Inspiration:
Commissioned by Harrowgate Flower Show to produce a series of abstract floral arworks, Lotus was one of the four chosen as final pieces to go on display at the Spring Show in 2023.
Knowing that the images were to repdrouced much larger for the show, I consciously made them very full of colour and texture, so that what is a tiny spot in the orginal would be blown up to a visible degree for the show meaning even the tiniest of errors would become obvious!
The style is very reminiscent of my textile design background, using layer upon layer of paint, with splashes of colour and spritzing the paint across the canvas to create energetic dynamic bursts to try and interpret the beauty and life of flowers as they burst into bloom.
